Following the successful Garden Open Day in July 2023, the Chapel and Gardens will be open again on Saturday 19th July from 10am to 5.30 pm.

Entrance to the Garden and Chapel is free.  Donations will be welcomed. Refreshment and cakes will be on sale.

17 years ago, when a Chapel member, Ray Beecham, conducted the funeral service of Bill Leslie, a former Chair of the Chapel and several other mourners remarked that the sad state of the gardens and burial ground made many people think the chapel was closed.

That was the spur that started Ray to undertake the restoration of the gardens. Since then, the gardens have undergone a transformation, so much so that visitors remark it is now a hidden gem in the centre of Warrington.

The garden now includes several rare and unusual shrubs. The burial ground includes the graves of Frederick Monks who presented the Golden Gates to Warrington and an obelisk in memory of Ann and William Robson who founded Warrington Anti-Slavery Society.  William travelled to America to meet leading Abolitionists and invited Sarah Parker Remond to Warrington where she spoke to packed meetings and wrote to a friend in America that, in Warrington, "I have been received here as a sister by white women for the first time in my life.".

The attractiveness of the garden has witnessed an increase of weddings taking place at the chapel with couples being given the chance to design their own wedding service and to be photographed in such beautiful surroundings.

The Revd. Rob Foreman, newly appointed Minister of the Chapel will be attending his first chapel event.
